Do morning people make you want to hide back under the covers? Maybe you’re not getting enough sleep.

 

In an article from News in Health, Dr. Merrill Mitler, a sleep expert and neuroscientist at NIH, talks about the benefits of sleep. Check it out:

A good night’s sleep does more than just give you a chance to enjoy some shut eye and maybe a few sweet dreams. Sleep “affects growth and stress hormones, our immune system, appetite, breathing, blood pressure and cardiovascular health.”

That’s not all! A lack of sleep can affect just about every system in your body, causing daytime productivity to go down, increasing the risk for obesity, and affecting how your body processes glucose.
